Other applications to discuss with our technical team

Subways, tunnels, reservoirs, canals, landfills, sewage treatment facilities, metallurgical and chemical facilities, and underground floors and side walls of industrial and other buildings. Each use requires a compatible pre-applied design; water-contact, chemical-resistance or environmental suitability must be verified for the particular project.

INSTALLATION & DETAILING

Application guidance for both systems.

Review installation steps, side-wall details and handling requirements for your selected membrane system.

APPLICATION GUIDANCE

Adhesive-jointed installation

  1. Confirm the system. Check the specified membrane configuration, substrate, lap materials and all transitions before installation.
  2. Place the membrane before the pour. Orient the bonding face towards the concrete and maintain a continuous sheet layout around details.
  3. Complete the adhesive joints. Follow the confirmed jointing method, with clean bonding surfaces and properly consolidated overlaps.
  4. Inspect before covering. Resolve damage, open laps and incomplete details before reinforcement and concrete work proceed.
Installation details to confirm

The additional application sheet below covers side-wall vertical fixing and the roof-slab-to-wall lap. It does not define a complete method for general field seams, rolling pressure or working temperature. Confirm those requirements for the selected adhesive system; do not substitute the welded membrane’s parameters.

ADHESIVE HDPE · APPLICATION DETAIL

Side-wall fixing & slab-to-wall connection

For the side-wall arrangement shown in the supplied application sheet, a metal termination bar secures the membrane termination before further protective brickwork is removed. The roof-slab membrane is then connected to the side-wall membrane and the completed lap is protected promptly.

Installation sequence

  1. Expose the termination. Remove the top row of bricks from the side-wall protective layer to access the membrane end.
  2. Secure the membrane. Use the specified termination bars and screws, at 200 mm fixing centres and 20 mm from the membrane end, following the illustrated arrangement.
  3. Remove further protective bricks. Complete strip fixing at all membrane ends first. Then remove the subsequent brickwork over no more than 300 mm, preferably the required lap length plus 150 mm.
  4. Make the slab-to-wall connection. Minimise the period for which the membrane is exposed and promptly complete the roof-slab-to-side-wall lap. The effective lap width must be at least 100 mm.
  5. Restore protection. Protect the joint immediately after completion. If working in stages, the source permits 10 m sections, with timely protection after each section is finished.
Detail scope and material confirmation

These requirements describe the side-wall fixing and roof-slab connection shown here. They are not general overlap dimensions for every adhesive HDPE joint. The source text calls the pressure strip “galvanised steel”, while the drawing labels it “Aluzinc steel plate”; confirm the required coating and compatible fixing specification before procurement.

APPLICATION GUIDANCE

Heat-welded installation

  1. Prepare the substrate. The base should be flat, sound and free from sharp protrusions and standing water.
  2. Lay out the sheets. Place the specified bonding or sanded face towards the fresh concrete. The supplied instructions call for staggered short-end joints, offset by at least one-third of the sheet width, to avoid aligned end laps.
  3. Clean and weld the overlaps. The source specifies a 100 mm overlap for hot-wedge welding. Keep the exposed HDPE welding faces clean and free of contamination.
  4. Set the weld geometry. The source lists a minimum 50 mm seam for a single-weld arrangement. For a double-weld arrangement, it lists two parallel 15 mm seams separated by a 20 mm air channel. Confirm these dimensions against the approved equipment and inspection method.
  5. Trial the welding settings. Establish temperature and travel speed using trial welds on the actual membrane and under current site conditions. Inspect the trial result before production welding.
  6. Complete transitions and corners. The source calls for HDPE-matched tape over the welded overlap and advance fixing of vertical-to-horizontal transitions. Internal and external corners may use compatible prefabricated pieces or site-cut and hot-air-welded details.
  7. Inspect the completed area. Check appearance, overlap quality and every local detail. Repair identified defects before the waterproofing is covered.

Confirm welding settings before installation

The original sheet does not provide complete speed units. Obtain a confirmed welding procedure for the selected membrane and equipment. Establish temperature and travel speed using trial welds under actual site conditions; do not use incomplete example values as machine settings.

Weather and site restrictions

The supplied installation page requires an ambient temperature of at least 5°C and excludes rain, snow and winds above Beaufort force 5. Keep the base flat and protect completed areas from contamination that could affect concrete bonding. Follow these weather restrictions when planning installation.

BOTH MEMBRANE SYSTEMS

Store well.
Install with care.

Storage, handling and quality requirements from the supplied product sheets apply to both ranges unless a confirmed product instruction states otherwise.

01 / STACKING

Keep rolls supported.

For horizontal storage, the source limits stacking to five layers. For vertical storage, keep rolls in a single layer. Separate different product types and specifications to avoid incorrect use.

02 / ENVIRONMENT

Protect from exposure.

Keep rolls away from direct sunlight and rain, and store them in a well-ventilated area. Maintain a storage temperature no higher than 45°C, and relative humidity no higher than 80%, as stated in the supplied sheets.

03 / STORAGE PERIOD

Check the production date.

The product sheet specifies a shelf life of one year from the date of manufacture under normal storage conditions, with reinspection and confirmation of suitability after that period. This storage period is not an installed waterproofing warranty.

QUALITY & SAFETY

Verify before the next trade starts.

Read the applicable safety instructions. Inspect the membrane surface, overlaps and details; repair defects and protect completed work from damage or contamination. Contact Hongyuan’s technical team for construction and safety questions.
